Artists' Watercolour Box
Mid 19th century Winsor& Newton Artists' box. "Manufacturers, by appointment to Her Majesty, and to T.R.H. The Prince and Princess of Wales. Before Victoria's beloved Albert died. Beautiful lapis blue paper lable with gilded decoration, with the royal coat of arms and attribution with the address of the manufacturers as 38 Rathbone Place, London.
The box is in excellent condition with no damage to wood, locks, hinges or escutcheons, still retaining the original key and brass pin to secure the bottom drawer when locked. Complete with the two original porcelain palettes, paint cakes, indian inks, water jar, various pens fine brushes and feathering device it is a fine example of these particular boxes. Made of mahogany it has ebony stringing to the edges of the lid and measures 9 x 7 x 3 inches (22.80 x 17.80 x 7.75 cms)
