MAHOGANY BOXED SET OF COUNTIES OF ENGLAND by Jaques and Son London Circa 1880s
The Counties of England card game was produced originally by Jaques in around the 1880s. They continued producing the into the 1920s over which the cards and cases changed in design, shape and materials.
As with many games makers, Jaques produced different versions of their games. This goes for The Counties of England. Here, we have their de-luxe version; a mahogany, slide-top box with one of their beautiful, signature decorative labels. Inside are three sets of the Counties covering all the counties of England.
Three sets of cards, three sets of key cards and rules, enabling three separate games to be played at the same time.
I will later list the counties in each set. For now, the photographs will suffice.
