OCTAGONAL, SILVER PUT AND TAKE GAMBLING TOP CIRCA 1920s
This is an unusual Put and Take. It has eight sides and is made of silver, hallmarked for Birmingham (England). The last part of the mark is rubbed so the exact date cannot be determined. However there is also another mark for the Makers, C & N. It is hollow and so very light in weight.
C & N were Crisford & Norris Ltd manufacturing from 1896 until 1978. Their marks have been found on Baby's rattles, bookmarks, button hooks, card cases, stamp cases etc., so this Put and Take is in line with those kinds of things. They were Manufacturing jewellers in Vyse Street Birmingham.
There is also the wording 'Pat. App'd For' which is visible in the first image
As well as P 1, 2, and 3 and T1, 2 and 3, on the other two facias are a Circle and a Star. A very unusual little English top, nearly 100 years old
