BEAUTIFUL EDWARDIAN BURGUNDY LEATHER/SILVER - CASED BRIDGE SET 1904
An immaculate leather cased bridge set from the 1920s with silver embellishment to the outside. It measures 15.5 x 11 x 2cm gusset.
As can be seen from the photographs, the case contains two full packs of playing cards by De La Rue & Co which on the ace of spades shows duty being paid of three pence. The cards look as though they have rarely been played with - hence no creases or markings.
The case also contains the laws of Bridge revised 1904 and a pair of scoring cards. These are made of a celluloid made to resemble ivory. The idea being that you can write with pencil on them and then wipe off after each game so they can be reused. They have guilt line markings with the wording honours, tricks, bridge scoring block, and Rd. No. 234611. on the reverse (not shown) are some basic bridge rules and scores when there are trumps and no trumps.
N.B. The flash has lightened the colour of the leather. It is a deeper, burgundy red
