1850s BONE TEETOTUM & 1900 WOODEN, ADVERTISING BOTTLE DICE
1850s( or earlier) bone Teetotum. An alternative to a dice. Required when more than six is to be gained when thrown or spun. This is an Octagonal teetoum. They do go up to twelve sides.
This lovely advertising wooden Bottle Dice dates around 1900. These were often made with advertising inscriptions or labels which often advertised breweries. So they were made in the different shapes of bottles which applied to their drink. This one is advertising Old Bushmills Irish Whisky and so is in the shape of their particular bottle. Top unscrews to reveal three dice.
Bottle dice were often keeps in the inside jackets of men who would produce them for a bet to decide something.
