The Indu Puzzle is an optical illusion puzzle popular in the early 1900s. There were other subjects, but this one of the poor Faquir having his head seemingly cut through is probably the most well-known. When the side lever is pressed the sword appears to swing through the neck, resting below the head. But, mon dieu, the head remains in tact!?

The painted metal head is on the end of a pin which is pushed through a hole from the front and protrudes from the back, illustrating that it does in fact pierce the whole of the structure. Thus reinforcing the mystery.

Made of tinplate with a perspex top, it measures 5cms diameter and 1cm deep. The back still retains the burgundy background with gold lettering giving the model number of the factory and that it is Made in Germany (during the war years, this would not have been mention - 'foreign' would have appeared.

Apart from the DR Patent, it names the other countries for which patents were being applied and gives the U.S.A. patent date as 20th June 1933.

A good piece, with the normal wear to the perspex for age and use.
